JAVIER ORONA

12+ years BJJ experience
10+ years coaching experience
1st degree black belt
Competitor

I was first introduced to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in 2013 through a friend. Over a couple of weeks, my love for the sport quickly flourished, leading me to compete in tournaments and become an instructor. Over time, I was able to receive my black belt under Albert Hughes and Braden Masters. Jiu-Jitsu has made a positive impact on my life, and I would love for it to do the same for others.”

DEYMOND STEPHENS

Coach Deymond started training Jiu Jitsu and MMA in 2006 and has been training in the DFW area since 2008. He was one of the first members at the start of Genesis Jiu Jitsu.

  • Coach Deymond received his black belt in 2022
  • Won the 2011 IBJJF NOGI World Championships at purple belt
  • Voted the most handsome grappler of 2012

RAMIL PADILLA “COACH P”

“I was first introduced to Jiu-Jitsu in 2013 and began training seriously to help cope with past trauma I endured during my time in the military. I was part of the founding team at Genesis Jiu-Jitsu’s Burleson location in 2017. In 2023, I was awarded my brown belt, and since then, I’ve been serving as a referee at AGF. Jiu-Jitsu has been a vital part of my journey, both on and off the mat.”

BRANDON VAUGHN

Coach Brandon is a 4-stripe purple belt. He has been representing Genesis for several years in competition and as an AGF referee. He found his love for coaching and building better individuals through the hard work and discipline required for Jiu-Jitsu.

COLBY NGUYEN

“I first got into Jiu-Jitsu when I was 10. I was getting into fights with my older cousins, so I started watching YouTube videos to figure out how to win.

I started training seriously in 2023 and earned my blue belt in five months. Since then, I’ve stayed consistent and I compete often.”

KRISTAL SALAS

“I got into Jiu Jitsu and Judo 12 years ago, originally drawn to martial arts through an interest in MMA. I’ve earned my black belt in Judo and was promoted to black belt in Jiu Jitsu last year under Randy and Sam Villareal. I’ve been coaching for two years and am an assistant coach in the kids program. I also work as a physical therapist assistant at a local outpatient clinic here in Burleson, and I’ve even treated a few of our members after some rough rounds on the mats. 😅 Hope to see y’all out there (preferably uninjured)!”
