Testimonials

Betsy Wolfe

"I have been training with Genesis Jiu-Jitsu in Burleson since May 2025. The ladies class is wonderful and always worth the drive from Arlington. Lots of personal attention and I always feel safe and comfortable. Coaching is top notch. I train with women of varying ages, though being age 62, I'm definitely older than they are, though my age doesn't seem to matter. I have several physical challenges but my training accommodates my needs and helps me stay well and active."

Sara

"I’ve visited the Burleson location a couple of times for open mat, and every time I’ve been welcomed with nothing but kindness and good energy. The training partners here are respectful, friendly, and genuinely fun to roll with. Kari teaches here as well, and she brings so much skill and clarity to her instruction. Even as a visitor, I’ve felt included and supported. Great people and a great atmosphere."

Bruce

"2nd BJJ gym I have joined since I started BJJ, and I absolutely made the right choice!

Everyone is friendly, kind, and VERY skilled.
If you have never done BJJ, or want to get your kids into martial arts, or just someone looking for a new gym, this is 1000% the place to go!"

Frequently Asked Questions

What types of classes do you offer at Genesis Jiu Jitsu?

We offer Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) classes for all levels — from complete beginners to experienced competitors. Classes include Gi BJJ, No-Gi BJJ, and open mat sessions. We also offer a dedicated Kids program for BJJ for youth ages 4 and up.

We also offer traditional Gi Judo and No-Gi Judo classes, focused on throws, takedowns, balance, and stand-up grappling. These classes help students develop the skills needed to confidently bring an opponent to the ground while improving timing, coordination, and body control.

Lastly, we offer No-Gi Wrestling classes designed to build strong takedown fundamentals, positional control, and athletic movement. These classes complement both Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and self-defense training by helping students become more effective and confident on their feet.

Do I need any prior experience to join your classes?

No prior experience is required! Our classes are suitable for all skill levels, from beginners to advanced practitioners. Our instructors provide personalized guidance to help you progress at your own pace. When you walk in, just mention it is your first time and our instructors and upper belts will ensure you are guided step by step through your first class.

What should I wear to my first class?

For your first class, just wear comfortable athletic clothes — shorts and a t-shirt work great. No Gi required right away for our Gi classes; we’ll get you set up with a loaner Gi for the day. Bring a water bottle and arrive a few minutes early so we can show you around.
